Dr. Joel Wallach

A biomedical research pioneer, Dr. Joel D. Wallach spent more than 40 years in the field of Veterinary Medicine, observing and researching the effects of individual nutrients on animal health, before becoming a Naturopathic Physician in 1982. Today, Dr. Wallach is renowned for his groundbreaking research on the health benefits of selenium and other minerals. He currently dedicates his time to lecturing throughout the world on the therapeutic benefits of vitamins and minerals, and on lobbying the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on behalf of the dietary supplement industry.

Dr. Wallach has been appearing recently with George Noory on Coast to Coast AM.

Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show today discussing congenital birth defects. Asserting people of the LBGTQ persuasions actually have congenital birth defects. Stating that homosexuality as well as asexuality or spinsters had cells missing in the part of the brain that control sexuality.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article regarding a study of diets and sustainability. Researchers used biophysical simulation models comparing 10 different diets. They compared the vegan diet, two vegetarian (one with dairy and one with dairy and egg), four omnivorous diets (with vary amounts of meat), one low in fats and sugar, one modeled on the typical American diet. Calculating how many people could be fed with available cropland. The end result was that if everyone on earth switched to a strict vegan diet. There would not be enough available cropland to feed everyone on earth. Meaning that a vegan diet is not environmentally sustainable.

Doug Winfrey and Ben Fuchs discuss a report out from AAA. After analyzing 7234 drivers who were involved in 4571 vehicle crashes from 6am to midnight between 2005 and 2007. Finding that those drivers who had less than four hours sleep in the 24 hours prior the accident had 11 1/2 times the crash risk. Compared to those who got the recommended 7 or more hours of sleep. Drivers who had four to five hour had a 4.3 times the risk, those who had five to six hour had 1.9 times the risk. One prior study found drivers deprived of sleep are actually as impaired as someone intoxicated on alcohol.

The first study found that heart attack survivors were less likely to die from heart damage if they drank one or two cups of coffee daily. The second study found that drinking two extra cups of coffee lowered the risk of liver cirrhosis by 44%.
