A  “long  period  swell”,  that  has  brought  8-10  foot  wave  swellssneaker  waves,  and  rip  currents  is  expected  to  continue  through  tomorrow  night.   The  rough  waves  exist  between  Monterey  and  Sonoma  counties.   Locally,  some  of  the  beaches  that  can  be  expected  to  be  seriously  impacted  are  those that  face  northwest,   such  as  Asilomar  State Beach  and  Marina  State  Beach.

2  thousand  marijuana  plants  were  discovered  on  Bureau  Of  Land  Management  land  in  San  Benito  County.    While  searching  the  grow  site,  San  Benito  County  Sheriff’s  deputies  discovered  2  suspects  who  fled  the scene.    One  was  arrested,  and  the  other  ditched  a  loaded  firearm  while  being  pursued  through the  brush.  That  person  is  still  being  sought.

A  magnitude  3.2  earthquake  occurred  in  the  San  Juan  Bautista  area  today.     it  was  epi-centered  less  than  10  miles  from  Hollister  and  11  miles  from  Salinas.    There  have  been  no  reports  of damage connected  with  the  9:16  a.m.  seismic  event.

A  Hollister  police  officer  was  injured  when  his  service  vehicle  was  hit  last  night.   Although  the  vehicle  was  seriously  damaged,  the  officer  suffered  moderate  injuries  and  has  been  released  from  the  hospital.  The  officers  was  in  pursuit  of  some  suspects  who  stole  items  from  a  Hollister  store  when  the  accident  occurred.    The  alleged  thieves  have  since  been  caught.

Three prostitutes,  working  at  3  separate  massage  parlors  in  Morgan  Hill  have  been  arrested.  Morgan Hill Police  officers  are  trying  to  uncover  any  connection  between  those  women.   The  prostitutes  were  cited  and released.  Anyone  with  information  on  this  case  is  encouraged  to  contact  the  Morgan  Hill Police  Department.   

A  convicted  felon  was  arrested  this  morning,  after  a  warrant  was  served  at  a  Marina  home.   34  year-old  William  Dixon  was  found  to  be  in  possession  of  a  semi-automatic  rifle  (that  was  equipped  with  a  high-capacity  magazine  and  a  silencer.   Dixon  was  booked  into  Monterey  County  Jail.

(10:05) San Mateo - In a move that could result in Silicon Valley billionaire Vinod Khosla being hit with tens of millions of dollars in penalties, The California Coastal Commission has begun an enforcement action against Khosla for his refusal to open Martins Beach in San Mateo County to the public.   Khosla is currently charged with at least five potential violations, with fees as much as $15,000 a day.   Because of the appellate court ruling San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office has told the public to feel free to ignore Khosla’s no-trespassing signs. 

(10:00) Scotts Valley - A woman was arrested last night in Scotts Valley after police stopped her for a mechanical violation and found the suspect, Yaminah Underwood in possession of several fraudulent credit cards and manufacturing equipment.  The department disclosed that this was not the first time Underwood, who is currently on probation, was found in possession of fake credit cards.   Underwood was arrested and booked at the Santa Cruz County Jail.
