The California Nurses Association is condemning the lifting of the state’s mandatory Stay-At-Home Order. That’s because nurses say that although we are currently trending in the correct direction, we are still in the midst of the most deadly surge of cases of Covid-19 in California. They say they have seen more patient deaths in the past few weeks than at any prior point. The other issue is that we have lost more than 320 health care workers and more than 82 thousand health care workers have tested positive for Covid-19 in California…..meaning that there are a lot less healthcare workers to take care of hospital patients. That in-turn skews the staffing ratios in a direction that nurses say does not bode well for the care of their patients.
