With 1-in-5 students in California lacking high speed internet access (and/or appropriate computing devices) at home….”Distance learning” is all but impossible for that sector of the community. Because of that, Governor Gavin Newsom has announced that (due to a public-private partnership) more than 70 thousand students around the state will get laptops, chromebooks, or tablets; while 100-hundred thousand free internet access points will be set-up throughout the state.
The partnership includes numerous businesses, individuals, and the California Public Utilities Commission. As part of that partnership, the California State Transportation Agency will also be converting and deploying 7 transit buses to be used as “Super Hotspots”.
