A THREE-DAY WORKSHOP HELD AT CRUZIO IN DOWNTOWN SANTA CRUZ THIS WEEKEND, BROUGHT TOGETHER SANTA CRUZ COUNTY RESIDENTS AND CIVIC LEADERS. THE GOAL OF THE WORKSHOP WAS TO ENGAGE RESIDENTS AND GENERATE POTENTIAL SOLUTIONS FOR EIGHT MAIN ISSUES: WATER, PUBLIC SAFETY, HOMELESSNESS, HOUSING, ARTS, EDUCATION, TRANSPORTATION, AND SUSTAINABILITY. SANTA CRUZ MAYOR HILARY BRYANT SPOKE SUNDAY ABOUT HOW A STRONG TAX BASE AND LISTENING TO CONSTITUENTS ARE KEYS TO EFFECTIVE GOVERNMENT. ONE IDEA TO COME OUT OF THE WORKSHOP WAS TO ENCOURAGE SILICON VALLEY C-E-Os TO SURF WITH MAYOR BRYANT AS A WAY TO BRING VISIBILITY TO SANTA CRUZ AND ENCOURAGE TECH COMPANIES TO SET UP SHOP IN SANTA CRUZ COUNTY.
