In addition to pending criminal charges, a former seaside police officer is now facing a civil suit, for allegations of sexual assault. The suit was filed November 30th, by 1 of the victims that has accused Salvador reynaga of abuse while he was serving as an officer. The suit seeks unspecified damages against reynaga, as well as the seaside police department and the city of seaside, alleging that not reynaga was not properly screened before being hired. A pretrial hearing in the criminal case is scheduled for next Tuesday; the trial is set to begin in January.
