Although there were 20 fatal crashes statewide over the new years weekend, reportedly none of those were in Santa Cruz county. That said, 14 people were arrested in the county for Driving Under The Influence during that time period. There was a solo bicycle crash that left the cyclist with major injuries, and that cyclist was also arrested on suspicion of D-U-I after crashing near the intersection of Capitola Road and Harbor View Court.
