MONTEREY AND PACIFIC GROVE’S POPULAR CAR SHOW CHERRY’S JUBILEE HAS BEEN CANCELLED BY ORGANIZERS. FOR 21-YEARS, THE THREE-DAY AUGUST EVENT HAS ATTRACTED HUNDREDS OF CLASSIC VEHICLES TO THE AREA’S WATERFRONT TO FUNDRAISE FOR THE SALINAS VALLEY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL FOUNDATION. OFFICIALS SAY THE EVENT BENEFITED THE LOCAL ECONOMY. HOWEVER THE CAR SHOW’S OVERALL BENEFIT IS EXPECTED TO BE REEVALUATED SINCE THE EVENT REQUIRES HUNDREDS OF VOLUNTEER HOURS, AND ITS EARNINGS BARELY COVERED OVERALL EXPENSES.
