As requested, an application for a charter school in the monterey area was rejected on Tuesday. representatives for the proposed coral academy had requested that members of the monterey peninsula unified school district board reject their petition, because they decided they would rather pursue the school through the monterey county office of education. Coral officials were frustrated that, after being denied once, they were again rebuffed in November, when the board told them to make several more changes to their plan. School officials felt they would have a better chance with the county.
