Change for Dominican’s Parent Company 01/24/12 11p.m. TDH

The parent company of dominican hospital has changed its name.  “Catholic Healthcare West” has split from the Catholic church, and officials have renamed the company “Dignity Health.”  Despite the official split, hospital officials say Dominican will remain a catholic hospital.  The move clears the way to re-organize the company’s board of directors.   Officials say operations at Dominican will not be affected.  The change will allow the hospital to offer a procedure that prevents pregnancies.  (The procedure had not been offered in the past because of the Hospital’s Catholic affiliation).  Digntiy health is a national company, and is the 5th largest healthcare provider in the country.
