CEMETERY GETS $15k WATER BILL 5/7/13 9:00a DMF

A LOCAL CEMETERY IN MONTEREY CAN NO LONGER AFFORD TO WATER THE GRASS ON ITS PROPERTY AFTER GETTING STUCK WITH A 15 THOUSAND DOLLAR WATER BILL.   SAN CARLOS CEMETERY USUALLY SPENDS AROUND 2 THOUSAND DOLLARS TO WATER THE GRASS ON ITS 13 ACRES.    RECENTLY CEMETERY MANAGER TIM BENNET WAS INFORMED BY THE CALIFORNIA AMERICAN WATER COMPANY THAT HIS WATER USAGE HAD SKY-ROCKETED.  IF BENNET CAN PROVE THAT A LEAK CAUSED THE INCREASE IN THE WATER BILL, CAL AM USUALLY REFUNDS 80% OF THE TOTAL AMOUNT.    MONTEREY PENINSULA ENGINEERING HAS STEPPED IN TO HELP BY OFFERING TO BRING A WATER TRUCK THREE TIMES A WEEK TO HELP MAINTAIN THE GRASS.
