Owners of pet cats who are looking for ways to keep their feline entertained are being advised to avoid using this common pet toy.
Rachel Geller, Cat Behaviorist, explained over the weekend on KSCOs Pet Radio, what toy to avoid, and why…
“Laser pointers were developed for PowerPoint presentations in the office and that’s where they should stay”, Geller stated.
“With a laser pointer, your cat is pointlessly chasing this beam of light. Laser pointers really frustrate cats, overstimulate [cats], and can even cause your companion cats act aggressively toward each other. They need to have that satisfaction of catching the pray and feeling their hard-earned prize beneath their paws”.
Geller also recommends “puzzle feeders” for pet cats, or placing cat food throughout the household as a form of entertainment for them.
