The city of Salinas is pushing forward with action to remove City Councilman Jose Casteneda from his seat on the Alisal School District board. Other council members have pointed out that by holding both positions Casteneda is breaking California Code meant to prevent conflicts of interest. The city has hired a private law firm to determine which actions to take. They are currently deciding whether to ask the California Attorney General to take action against Casteneda, ask her whether they can take him to court themselves, or take no further action.
