A rise in covid 19 has been observed through the testing of waste water. The Carmel Area Wastewater District has been monitoring the treatment facility waters for covid19 on a weekly basis. The general manager of the facility is reporting that testing showed spikes in the presence of coronavirus in the sewage in the weeks after memorial day weekend and the 4th of July weekend. The goal of the testing is to determine an accurate method of determining infection rates.
