In an effort to help cut administrative costs, plans were approved yesterday to consolidate Carmel Valley and Monterey County Regional fire departments. The Carmel Valley Fire board voted 5-to-0 to merge with Monterey County Regional Fire, who approved the merger last month. A hearing to finalize the consolidation plan is expected to be held before the Local Agencies formation Commission sometime in October.
