Carmel city council members voted 4 to zero Wednesday to fill a vacant seat by appointment, (rather than special election). The unanimous vote appointed the city’s current cultural commissioner carrie theis to the seat. The 5th city council seat became available after councilwoman paula hazdovac announced her resignation (in order to spend more time with her family). theis is set to take the seat September 7th. (That seat won’t be up for election again until November, 2013).
