(07:00) Santa Cruz – A man led Santa Cruz County Deputies on a high speed chase on Highway 17 Saturday night. 25-year-old Tyler Evenson broke into a man’s home in Santa Cruz, took the keys to his vehicle and sped off. Deputies spotted Evenson a short time later near La Fonda and Soquel Avenue. Evenson attempted to evade deputies while he traveled the wrong way on Highway 17. Evenson crashed head on into an oncoming vehicle near Sugarloaf Road. Evenson took off running and attempted to steal another car, but the driver of the vehicle grabbed Evenson, and held onto to him until deputies arrived. Evenson was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail.
