A SATURDAY MORNING CAR TURNED DEADLY. AT AROUND 2:20 A-M C-H-P OFFICERS ATTEMPTED TO STOP A SPEEDING VEHICLE ON GRAHAM HILL ROAD. THE DRIVER SPED OFF CONTINUING SOUTH OF SIMS ROAD FOR ABOUT A MILE BEFORE CRASHING INTO A BRICK WALL AND CATCHING FIRE. OFFICERS PULLED 3 OCCUPANTS FROM THE BURNING VEHICLE. A 24-YEAR OLD FEMALE PASSENGER WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE. THE DRIVER 23 YEAR OLD MARQUIS EDWARDS OF B, AND THE MALE PASSENGER, 21 YEAR OLD DEVONTREAL THACKER OF FRESNO WERE TRANSPORTED TO A BAY AREA TRAUMA CENTER. BOTH ARE UNDER ARREST; EDWARDS FACES FELONY D-U-I AND PENDING CHARGES, THACKER IS FACING DRUG POSSESSION CHARGES, UPON RELEASE FROM THE HOSPITAL THE SUSPECTS WILL BE BOOKED INTO SANTA CRUZ COUNTY JAIL.
