A van caught fire in Salinas on Wednesday, causing damage to a Smart & Final on East Market Street. A 65-year-old woman was in the vehicle when it began to smoke and was quickly pulled out by her son, after which the vehicle caught fire. The vehicle was completely destroyed along with instruments in the car and the flames caused at least $5,000 in damages to the store.
