The fire captain that died July 29th, while fighting the Ferguson Fire near Yosemite, reportedly started his firefighting career in Monterey county. 33 year-old Brian Hughes was originally from Hawaii, and had most recently been working with California’s Arrowhead Interagency Hot Shots for the past 4 years. Captain Hughes is survived by his parents and sister, as well as by his fiancee (who is 3 months pregnant with their child). A GoFundMe page has been created to help his fiancee and their unborn child.
