The 162 year old Capitola Wharf is closed pending repairs. The structure has been closed since 2 structural pilings broke during recent heavy surf conditions. The pilings are located underneath the metal crane used for lowering and raising rental boats. A temporary metal I-beam has been installed while permanent repairs are performed. Over a dozen employees of The Wharf House restaurant and the Boat and Bait shop will be out of work until the wharf re-opens sometime next week.
