Capitola Sign ordinance 07/11/12 5:30p.m. TDH

Capitola city council members are set to address a local sign ordinance thursday.  At their 7 p.m. meeting, council members are scheduled to hear from business owners that want to alter the ban on most signs in capitola village.  Currently, stand-alone, a-frame, and sandwich-board signs are not permitted in capitola village.  The council could allow a trial period for only stand-alone signs, or only for sandwich-boards and a-frames.  The trial period would be for 1-year.  Council members could also decide to keep the ban in place.    If the ban is altered, signs would likely only be allowed on capitola avenue, the esplanade, and parts of Stockton avenue.  there would also likely be a limit on the number of signs allowed.
