Capitola police are searching for a phone scammer. Authorities were alerted of the scam on Tuesday after the son of an elderly victim called police. Shortly after 11:30 a.m. investigators arrived to the rite aid on the 1400 block of 41st avenue where an elderly victim had purchased $3,000 in Green Dot fund cards. The victim had received text from someone impersonating her son requesting the money for bail. Store employees urged the victim to call the son, who called police after hearing of the scam.
