CAPITOLA CITY OFFICIALS DRAFTED AN “URGENCY ORDINANCE” IN RESPONSE TO A BUILDING PERMIT APPLICATION. A PROPERTY OWNER WANTS TO TURN AN INDUSTRIAL WAREHOUSE INTO A COMMERCIAL MARIJUANA GROWING AND PROCESSING PLANT, AND CITY OFFICIALS SAY CAPITOLA IS TOO SMALL A CITY (NOT EVEN 2 SQUARE MILES) TO BE A HOME BASE FOR A COMMERCIAL MARIJUANA OPERATION.
THE CITY COUNCIL PLANS TO DISCUSS URGENCY ORDINANCE THAT WOULD BAN SUCH A FACILITY AT THEIR 7 P-M MEETING THIS THURSDAY EVENING IN CAPITOLA CITY HALL. IF THE BAN IS APPROVED IT WOULD TAKE EFFECT IMMEDIATELY, BUT WOULD NOT IMPACT THE DISTRIBUTION AND SALE OF MEDICINAL MARIJUANA.
