CALTRANS plans work and a new traffic signal on Highway 9 north of Spring Creek Road starting on Monday.
Due to construction of a retaining wall required to stabilize a slip-out along Highway 9 just north of Spring Creek Road, Caltrans is installing a temporary signal system which will be activated the week of April 1, 2019, weather permitting.
The signal system will have a separate phase which will allow residents of Spring Creek Road to activate the signal and allow for turning movements both north or south. The adjacent driveway south of Spring Creek Road will be impacted during construction. The northern access point will be temporarily closed during the construction of the retaining wall. The southern access point will not be impacted.
The contract for the construction of the retaining wall is scheduled to be awarded on April 16, 2019. Work is anticipated to begin by the end of May 2019, weather permitting. The projected completion date and removal of the signal system is anticipated to be December 1, 2019.
The contractor for this $7.5 million construction project is Granite Construction Co. of Watsonville, CA and should complete in the winter of 2019/2020.
