California American Water may have to pay a fine for underreporting unfinished projects in California. According to the Public Utilities Commission, the company did not report 58 unfinished projects, for which they had already charged customers. Each violation could result in a $15,000 fine. A judge has recommended Cal Am be fined the full amount of $870,000. The discrepancy was noted after an investigation of Cal Am’s project sites found more unfinished projects than their initial reports. Seven of these projects are located in the Monterey district. The fine still needs commission approval.
