CAL-TRANS AND THE CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL ARE WARNING MOTORISTS OF MAXIMUM ENFORCEMENT IN ACTIVE CONSTRUCTION ZONES. THE AGENCIES ARE WORKING TOGETHER ON A PUBLIC SAFETY CAMPAIGN WHICH HIGHLIGHTS WORK ZONE SAFETY. ELECTRONIC HIGHWAY SIGNS (WITHIN 5 MILES OF THE START OF A ZONE) AROUND THE STATE WILL DISPLAY WARNINGS SUCH AS WORKERS AHEAD, C-H-P ON PATROL, AND MAX ENFORCEMENT AND FINES WILL BE DOUBLED FOR ANY TRAFFIC INFRACTION WITHIN A CONSTRUCTION WORK ZONE, UNTIL AUGUST 1ST.
