California American Water is challenging the potential public takeover of the company’s water system. To that end Cal-Am has sued the Monterey Peninsula Water Management District regarding that agency’s environmental review of the possible takeover. The lawsuit requests that the court order MPWMD to vacate, and set aside, it’s report about the impact of the possible takeover.
The Monterey Peninsula is just over a year away from the state’s Carmel River Pumping Cutback Order deadline, set to take full effect at the end of 2021.
