Governor Gavin Newsom plans to withdraw a majority of the state’s National Guard troops from the Mexican border. Newsom wants to re-assign 260 of the 360 troops to other drug-related activities as well as wildfire prevention. 100 troops will continue aid with federal border enforcement.
