Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a man after he attempted to rape a woman at knifepoint late Wednesday night. Deputies made the arrest after obtaining a search warrant for the Castroville residence of 36-year old Eric Garcia. Garcia reportedly broke into the victim’s home just after 11 p.m. at knifepoint and attempted to forcibly rape her. When the victim fought back and attempted to flee, Garcia threatened to kill her. The victim’s daughter ran for help causing Garcia to flee the scene. He was apprehended on attempted homicide, attempted rape and burglary.
