New guielines for the 2019-2020 Backyard Burn Season have been released. The season will run from December 1st, through April 3rd. All residents planning a backyard burn MUST obtain a permit from their fire district. Backyard burning without a burn permit is against the law. Burn permits for Central Fire Protection District and Aptos/La Selva Fire Protection District will only be available at the Administration Office at 6934 Soquel Drive in Aptos. Burn permits can no longer be obtained at the Administration Office at 930 17th Avenue in Santa Cruz.
