the first of three public forums gathering public comment on the city of watsonville’s 2030 general plan was held yesterday. the city has cut 950 homes from a long-range plan to expand into the buena vista road area, originally planning to construct over 2-thousand homes. comments against the plan came from pilots who are concerned about safety at the watsonville airport, and neighbors who fear of losing their rural lifestyle. the next public forum is slated for november 30th, at 6 p.m. at the watsonville city plaza community room.
