State lawmakers met with the governor again today(Fri), to try to work out an agreement on a budget. 5-hours of talks yesterday failed to yield any results, however Republicans reportedly believe a deal will be reached soon. If the negotiations continue beyond next week, the state could have to start issuing I.O.U.s. This is the longest California has ever gone without an operating budget. Lawmakers are trying to compromise on how to close a roughly 19-billion dollar deficit.
