People are being warned not to eat raw oysters from British Columbia right now. That’s because about 100 people statewide have contracted Norovirus from eating those british columbia oysters. Canada has reported more than 170 cases of gastronomical illness from consuming raw oysters that were harvested in south and central Baynes Sound. 4 oyster farms from Baynes Sound, that are connected with those cases, are temporarily closed. Norovirus is contagious and causes inflammation of the stomach and intestines. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and fever.
