A WATSONVILLE GIRL, WHO WAS DIAGNOSED WITH CANCER THE DAY AFTER HER 12TH BIRTHDAY, RECENTLY SPOKE WITH THE WOMAN THAT PROBABLY SAVED HER LIFE. 14 YEAR OLD ELIZABETH BONILLA, SPOKE WITH A 50 YEAR OLD WOMAN NAMED HOPE, FROM SAN ANTONIO,TEXAS. IN THE SUMMER OF 2011, HOPE JOINED THE NATIONAL MARROW DONOR PROGRAM, AND WITHIN FOUR MONTHS WAS FOUND TO BE A 99 PER-CENT MATCH WITH BONILLA. THE TRANSPLANT TOOK PLACE IN THE FALL OF THAT SAME YEAR. LOCAL “CHILDREN-WITH-CANCER” ORGANIZATION JACOB’S HEART, HAS DONATED A WOODEN CLOCK TO ELIZABETH, WHICH SHE PLANS TO PAINT, AND SEND TO HER DONOR AS A GIFT OF GRATITUDE.
