MEMBERS OF THE MONTEREY COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT BOMB SQUAD WERE CALLED TO THE MOSS LANDING AREA ON MONDAY, AFTER SOMEONE FOUND A MILITARY-GRADE FLARE. THE FLARE HAD WASHED ASHORE NEAR THE HARBOR. THE BOMB SQUAD DETERMINED THAT THE FLARE, (KNOWN AS A “MARKER”) WAS NOT DANGEROUS, AND IT WAS SAFELY DISCARDED.
