Over a thousand workers at the Santa Cruz beach boardwalk are furloughed as the busy summer season approaches and The iconic Santa Cruz landmark remains shuttered.
A spokesperson for the seaside company, which operates the boardwalk says the lay-offs are temporary as a result of the corona virus.
166 arcade and attraction jobs are lost, along with 144 food workers and 105 ride operators. In a letter to employees the seaside company said the lay-offs are temporary but they gave no estimate of when the boardwalk would open.
