BIRD EXPERTS AREN’T SURE WHY, BUT THE BLUE-FOOTED BOOBIES, WHICH NORMALLY DON’T COME THIS FAR NORTH, HAVE BEEN SPOTTED ALL AROUND THE MONTEREY BAY AREA THIS WEEK. THE LARGE SEA BIRDS, WITH FEET THAT RANGE IN COLOR FROM LIGHT TURQUOISE TO DEEP AQUAMARINE, HAVE BEEN SPOTTED IN SANTA CRUZ, ON THE BLUFFS IN CAPITOLA, IN MONTEREY, AND AROUND POINT PINOS.
Ebird.org has a blue-footed booby map that bird watchers add to with reports of sightings.
