Monterey County Police have identified the woman who died after driving off the Bixby Bridge in Big Sur last week. 20-year old San Jose resident Nina Shizumi Sakima was driving a blue Honda northbound on Highway 1 on the morning of January 19th, when she crossed over into the southbound lane, crashed into a metal guardrail before the car flipped 400-feet off the Bridge. Sakima was ejected from the vehicle mid-air before landing on the rocks below. 25-year old passenger, Daniel Gowans, also of San Jose, was thrown from the car. He’s currently in a coma in a Bay area Trauma Center.
