A biotechnology startups in Santa Cruz now have a place to go and grow as an incubator lab held its official opening on Thursday. The nonprofit called the Startup Sandbox is in the Westside of Santa Cruz and aims to capitalize on the growing biotech scene in the county. UC Santa Cruz funded the initiative with $700,000 received as part of a state bill passed in 2016. The lab already has 13 startups under its roof and can house up to 40.
