How did the Dolan Fire get started in Big Sur? Prosecutors and fire investigators said in court Thursday that they know what happened.
They say suspect Ivan Gomez admitted to first responders that he intentionally started the fire with a Bic lighter. The new details came out during a preliminary hearing.
Investigators say Gomez was part of a large pot-growing operation found in the area where the fire started.
Gomez was arrested the night the fire started and has been charged with arson.
As of Thursday morning, containment on the Dolan Fire stood at 98-percent after it burned 124,924 acres.
