THE MASSIVE 8 POINT 7 MILLION POUND PROCESSED BEEF RECALL BY RANCHO FEEDING CORPORATION IN PETALUMA HAS IMPACTED THE CENTRAL COAST. THE U-S DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE FOOD SAFETY AND INSPECTION SERVICE UPDATED THE DISTRIBUTION LIST TO INCLUDE MOSTLY LIQUOR STORES AND MINI-MARTS IN WATSONVILLE, SOLEDAD, SANTA CRUZ, AND SALINAS, AMONG OTHERS. THE RECALL IS IN EFFECT BECAUSE THE PACKING COMPANY PROCESSED DISEASED AND UNSOUND ANIMALS THAT THE U-S-D-A-F-S-I-S CONSIDER UNSOUND, UNWHOLESOME, AND UNFIT FOR HUMAN COMSUMPTION. THEY HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY REPORTS OF ILLNESS DUE TO THE RECALLED PRODUCTS. THE FULL DETAILS OF THE RECALL AND THE MOST UP-TO-DATE LIST CAN BE FOUND ONLINE AT WWW.FSIS.USDA.GOV/RECALLS
