This morning, a water main emergency caused a washout on the Eastbound side of Bear Creek Road near milepost 1.71.
The water main located approximately 20 to 30 feet underground ruptured, causing 5 feet of the mountain road to wash out.
At this time, CHP officers on scene performing traffic control, and delays are to be expected.
A spokesperson with Santa Cruz County Roads anticipates this incident will not close Bear Creek Road.
