DUE TO A SECURITY BREACH AT THE RETAIL STORE “TARGET”, DURING THE CHRISTMAS SHOPPING SEASON, BAY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION, (AS WELL AS OTHER BANKS AND CREDIT UNIONS) HAVE RE-ISSUED NUMEROUS CREDIT AND DEBIT CARDS (FOR THEIR MEMBERS AND CUSTOMERS). A SPOKESPERSON FROM TARGET CONFIRMED THE ‘UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO PAYMENT CARD DATA, SAYING THAT 40 MILLION ACCOUNTS MAY HAVE BEEN IMPACTED BETWEEN NOVEMBER 27TH AND DECEMBER 15TH.
ANYONE WHO SHOPPED AT A TARGET STORE DURING THAT TIME IS ENCOURAGED TO CONTACT THEIR BANK OR CREDIT UNION.
