silicon valley commuters could see a change in their travel earlier than expected. bart trains could begin running in santa clara county before christmas 2016, nearly 18 months ahead of schedule. the valley transportation authority approved the 772 million dollars needed to begin construction of the 10 mile extension. the new routes are planned to run from fremont to the berryessa area of san jose. all that remains before construction can begin is approval from the federal transit administration in february.
