Family, friends, and former colleagues turned out yesterday to honor Santa Cruz Police Sergeant Butch Baker and Detective Elizabeth Butler on the 8th anniversary of their deaths. The ceremony began at 3:23 p.m. in the Memorial Garden outside the Santa Cruz Police Department. That’s the time the 2 were killed in the line of duty. Baker and Butler are the only two police officers killed in the line of duty in the department’s history.
