With the start of the Fire season, comes the end of the Backyard Burn Season for the Central Coast. In fact, the Backyard Burn Season generally runs from December 1st through April 30th….meaning it ended on Tuesday of this week. Some areas provide a no-cost chipping service as an alternative.
Because we are now in the 2019 Fire Season, people are urged to
- clear all flammable brush within 30 feet of their structures, and
- thin the brush from 30 to 100 feet from structures.
- People are also encouraged to limb trees 6 feet from the ground level, and
- cut any overhanging branches away from the roof….and
- at least 10 feet from all chimneys.
People are also asked to trim overhanging branches up to a 15-foot minimum height to provide clearance for trucks and other emergency vehicles.
