(08:02) MONTEREY COUNTY – A woman who claimed to have found an abandoned puppy in Salinas has admitted to lying about the incident. According to her initial report, the woman found the 6-week-old Chihuahua inside a pet carrier in an alley with no access to food or water. The woman has confessed that she bought the dog from a transient. When she was unable to find the puppy a home, she surrendered him to the SPCA and gave humane officers a false account of the incident. The woman has been counseled and will not be charged. The puppy has since been adopted. (S.G.)
