(23:20) ROYAL OAKS – A now-defunct North Monterey County strawberry farm, and its president, have been ordered to pay more than a million dollars in back wages. That’s because Gonzalvo Fernandez (of Fernandez Farms) was found guilty of systematic wage theft, intimidation, and “blatant disregard” of the H-2a Visa (Agricultural Guest-Worker Program). The violations impacted more than 400 people during the 2010-2011 growing season alone.
