(09:33) SALINAS – A federal agency has ordered a realty firm to remove lead-based paint from a dozen rental units in Salinas. Investigators with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency found that Piini Realty failed to notify tenants about the possible presence of lead-based paint on several properties. The agency has since reached a settlement with Piini Realty, requiring the firm to remove the hazardous paint and pay a fine of over $4,000. The firm has been given 18 months to complete the paint removal project. (S.G.)
